2019 NRA Grant Awarded!

posted Apr 2, 2019, 9:18 AM by Busted Dusted

Got news today that our Grant for 2019 was awarded!  We will be getting 36 flats of shells and $768 for target fees.  The amount of shells is the same as we have recieved in previous years, but the amount of money for target fees is lower (by about half).  We'll use it carefully and most of it will go to fund target fees for the CO State AIM shoot as described in our grant application.  THANK YOU NRA!

Our team was blessed again this year with a generous donation from the Friends of the NRA.  They gave us 36 flats of shells and $1500 to use for shooting fees again this year.  As usual, we will use these shells and funds for competitions and to defer the costs of some practices.

The South Denver Friends of the NRA banquet is on March 17, 2018 in Castle Rock.  Please contact Coach Mike if you can attend this banquet and volunteer some time to give back to the NRA.

It is my pleasure to announce that Sierra W was named the recipient of the Kreighoff sponsored scholarship from the ATA Hall of Fame for 2017.  This is the top academic scholarship that the ATA offers.  The ATA Hall of Fame gives 5 $5000 scholarships to 5 deserving high school seniors who are ATA members.  The Kreighoff scholarship goes to the applicant who had the highest academic status of all the applicants.  Congratulations Sierra!

2017 AIM State Shoot Results

After the first 100 targets of the Singles championship, our team was tied for first place with the team from Colorado Springs!  Then, 2 things happened.  The first was that I didn't lock Cody's stock down well enough and it moved by several inches, causing him to miss targets that he would not have otherwise missed (my fault).  The second was that the wind came up and effected many shooters, including us.  We ended up 3 targets short of 2nd place, in 3rd.  Not bad, considering the year before we didn't medal.  This year, our team took 3rd place medals home and we also had 2 shooters win individual medals.  Nice shooting Busted and Dusted!
